NFPA 274 - Standard Test Method to Evaluate Fire Performance Characteristics of Pipe Insulation, 2009 Edition

Update your current NFPA Standards with the most recent NFPA 274

Use results from the 2009 NFPA 274 to help you select pipe insulation assemblies that contribute less heat, flame, and smoke in fire scenarios.

The 2009 NFPA 274: Standard Test Method to Evaluate Fire Performance Characteristics of Pipe Insulation determines the heat release and smoke generation of pipe insulation and pipe insulation assemblies under controlled laboratory conditions. A method is provided for an examination of the complete insulation assembly including elbows in an actual end use configuration.

This updated Standard edition contains a new requirement for quantifiable temperature measurement at the top of the test apparatus chase using thermocouples rather than a subjective observation of the presence of flames. Other minor changes clarify committee intent. 13pp.
