Recent world events have placed additional importance on the discipline of security design. Security hardware and design principles are being woven into the thread of the built environment and communications systems. Information technology, security and facilities professionals are increasingly looking to BICSI members to provide the expertise needed to respond to security design issues.
The convergence of security onto the network further places much of the responsibility for future security designs into the hands of the BICSI membership. BICSI is ready to prepare its membership for this significant shift in the ITS industry.
Spearheaded by the BICSI Technical Information and Methods (TI&M) Committee and Professional Development and Credentialing staff, and written by industry subject matter experts, including several professional engineers (PEs) and certified protection professionals (CPPs), the first edition of the Electronic Safety and Security Design Reference Manual (ESSDRM), will soon become the foundation document for the electronic safety and security design.
